š ENABLING VIRTUALIZATION: STEP BY STEP
At Cyber Deep Dive Academy, we donāt just teach cybersecurity, we build real-world skills through hands-on labs. Todayās focus is a foundational concept every aspiring ethical hacker, SOC analyst, or GRC professional must understand:
š Virtualization
š” What is Virtualization?
Think of your computer like a physical building.
Normally, one building = one business.
But with virtualization, you turn that same building into a multi-office complex, where multiple businesses (virtual machines) run independently inside one physical space.
In cybersecurity terms:
Your host machine = the physical hardware
Your virtual machines (VMs) = isolated environments (like Kali Linux, Windows Server, etc.)
This allows you to:
ā Run multiple operating systems
ā Practice hacking safely in isolated labs
ā Build real-world cyber attack & defense scenarios
š ļø Why Virtualization Matters in Cybersecurity
No virtualization = No real lab
It is the backbone of:
Penetration testing labs (Kali Linux)
Malware analysis environments
Incident response simulations
Network defense practice
At Cyber Deep Dive Academy, this is where your hands-on journey begins.
āļø STEP-BY-STEP: Enable Virtualization (Windows)
Follow this carefully š
š¹ Step 1: Enable Virtualization in BIOS
Restart your computer
Press F2 / DEL / ESC (depends on your system)
Look for: š Intel VT-x or AMD-V
Set it to Enabled
Save and Exit
š¹ Step 2: Open Windows Features
Press Windows + R
Type: optionalfeatures.exe
Hit Enter
š¹ Step 3: Enable Required Features
In the Windows Features window:
ā Check the following:
Hyper-V
Virtual Machine Platform
Windows Hypervisor Platform
š These are like turning on the āengineā that powers virtualization.
š¹ Step 4: Apply Changes
Click OK
Wait for installation
Restart your computer
š¹ Step 5: Verify Virtualization
Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc
Go to Performance Tab ā CPU
Look for:
š Virtualization: Enabled
š§ Real-World Insight
Without virtualization, practicing cybersecurity is like:
š Trying to learn driving without a car
With virtualization:
š You build your own cyber battlefield safely
š Join the Hands-On Movement
At Cyber Deep Dive Academy, we guide you step-by-step through:
š¹ Kali Linux Labs
š¹ Wireshark Traffic Analysis
š¹ Nessus Vulnerability Scanning
